Dietmar Brinkmann, LMFT

Dietmar has the kind and stable presence that provides a safe haven for his clients when they feel overwhelmed by emotional turmoil or crisis. As an expert in emotional resilience and healthy relationships, he is a passionate ally to clients who want to get to the roots of chronic relationship problems. His therapy approach is mindfulness-based and methodically nurtures self-compassion. With an in-depth understanding of the mind/ body connection, he helps his clients develop skills and tools for sustained liberation from anxiety, depression, and addictive behaviors.

Dietmar combines the best traditions of talk-therapy with cutting edge, body-oriented somatic psychotherapy. The effectiveness of this combined approach is based on results of neuroscience, research on the nature of relationships and also more recent findings that demonstrate the powerful effects of mindfulness and compassion on emotional and relational wellbeing.

A German native, Dietmar loves the creativity and diversity of the Bay Area where he has made his home for the past 18 years. Besides working as a therapist, he has facilitated interpersonal skills development groups at Stanford Graduate School of Business since 2005. As a facilitator, Dietmar helps young business leaders to be aware of their feelings and communicate effectively.
