J.C. CHANCE, MFT

J.C. is a compassionate, creative and engaged therapist. Clients often say that they feel his down-to-earth approach is both gentle and disarming. He specializes in listening for clients’ inner stories and defenses that have become harmful instead of helpful, and left clients feeling “broken.” J.C. uses an empathic and direct approach to help clients develop a deeper awareness of their experience of the world while developing the self-awareness to challenge and change these unhelpful stories and patterns.

J.C. focuses on working with individuals and couples on relationships – to oneself, lovers, spouses, friends and family. This often takes the shape of working through communication problems, break-ups, dating, sexual expression, trauma and life transitions.

J.C.'s Online Reviews

"I worked with JC for over four years and cannot express my gratitude or endorsement of his guidance as a therapist enough - he is truly a gift. As a queer person, searching for a therapist that was affordable, appreciative of all components of my identity and life experience, and made me feel at ease was daunting. I searched high and low for someone to feel "at home" with. JC was just that person. I felt safe to be me, even when I was still uncovering/discovering who that person was. JC was always receptive, open, and provided the gentle encouragement I truly value in a therapeutic setting. If I had not moved across the country, I would certainly still be grateful to be working with him today. I cannot recommend him enough!" - Yelp

"I have seen many therapists in my life - J.C. is the best and most helpful one. He is unbelievably compassionate and empathetic. He truly cares and invests himself emotionally in the relationship. I have seen J.C. for over a year and feel that I have made great progress with myself. I believe J.C. would be outstanding in almost any situation. I cannot recommend him more highly." - Yelp
